Balch Springs City Council on Feb. 10 approved a slate of purchases and contract renewals intended to maintain parks and speed street repairs.
The council voted to contract with Craftsman Commercial Playground and Water Park to replace a damaged shade canopy at the fitness court in Woodland Park, 14404 Horseshoe Trail, with a more-permanent metal roofed structure. Mayor Pro Tem Miles moved the measure; Council member Salal seconded. The motion carried on a roll call vote of yes from Council members Hill, Garcia, Gabriel, Whitley, Mayor Pro Tem Miles and Council member Bridal.
The city staff said the project is funded from the citys Type B economic-development fund and was recommended by the Type B board and the parks board. City staff member Freeman said the new structure uses anchor bolts and steel reinforcement and is intended to be less vulnerable to vandalism than the prior canvas-style canopy.
Council also approved the purchase of a 2025 MadVac LR50 all-terrain litter vacuum from Texas Pack and Load through the Sourcewell cooperative contract for $98,497…
