Staff member (staff member) announced the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting was canceled after only three commissioners attended, leaving the commission without the four-member quorum required to conduct business. "We need 4 commissioners to be here to have a quorum," the staff member said.
The staff member said the commission had attempted to contact absent commissioners without success and therefore could not provide formal recommendations. "Because of the time requirements that are put on us by the state of Texas, because of those requirements we do have to take these items direct to the council meeting," the staff member said. The staff member added that the city would provide a staff recommendation to the council and that a council meeting is scheduled in February (date not specified).
The cancellation eliminated the commission's ability to consider any agenda items at this session. The staff member thanked the three commissioners who attended and said city staff, including "Alex and some of my co workers," would remain on site briefly to answer questions from the public.
No motions or votes were taken by the commission at the canceled meeting; staff indicated the items on the commission agenda will be referred to the City Council with staff recommendations for council consideration.
