The Star City Council on Tuesday delayed a decision on a conditional use permit that would allow West Ada School District to build a new elementary school on the west side of North Pollard Lane, north of Floating Feather, saying the district must provide a clearer plan for traffic circulation and work with the Ada County Highway District.
City staff opened the public hearing and recommended approval after confirming that application materials, agency transmittals and legal notices complied with the city’s Unified Development Code and comprehensive plan. David Reinhart, chief operating officer for West Ada School District, told the council the project is intended to relieve crowding — “we are approximately a hundred and 5 students over capacity at that school” — and that the district expects roughly 333 additional students in the neighborhood over the next three years.
