The Planning and Zoning Commission voted 5–0 on Jan. 23 to recommend approval of a major amendment and plan of development for a self‑storage complex at the northeast corner of Thomas Road and 190th Avenue in Buckeye (case Z2023115).
Staff noted the 93,507‑square‑foot, single‑story proposal follows a prior 2023 C‑2 CUPD approval and would use septic as approved by Maricopa County Environmental Services. The applicant reported cooperation with the City of Buckeye on right‑of‑way dedications and a planned northbound turn lane; Buckeye staff provided an objection asking that the development be annexed into the city and meet city standards.
Applicant representative Adam Baugh said the developer worked with Buckeye staff on roadway improvements and is asking the commission to forward the case to the Board of Supervisors for final action. No members of the public spoke in opposition at the hearing, and staff recommended approval subject to conditions A through H in the staff report.
Commissioner Montoya moved to recommend approval; Commissioner Lindblom seconded. The commission recorded a 5–0 recommendation to the Board of Supervisors.
