Policy subcommittee advances multiple policies for board consideration; several items tabled for redraft

Policies advanced (moved forward in the review process): - Policy 234 (pregnant, parenting, and married students) - Policy 235 (student rights and responsibilities) - Policy 02/2001 (surveys) - Policy 236 (student assistance program) - Policy 236.1 (new PSBA policy) - Policy 250 (student recruitment) - Policy 251 (students experiencing homelessness and foster care) - New policy: Educational opportunity for military children
For each of these items, subcommittee members indicated support and voice votes were recorded in the meeting transcript as "yes" by members present. The meeting transcript records subcommittee members and participating administrators registering approval to move those policies forward in the process; no formal objections were recorded for these items on Feb. 5.
Policies deferred for further drafting or review: - Policy 226 (searches/delegation): tabled so members can review Stock & Leader administrator training materials and consider a minor edit to allow a designee (for example, advisor or coach) to act under an administrator's direction at district-sponsored events. - Policy 227 (controlled substances and paraphernalia): extensively discussed; subcommittee requested clarifying language separating inadvertent possession from distribution, specifying nurse/parent medication procedures, and a progressive-discipline approach; tabled for redraft. - Policy 237 (electronic devices): subcommittee asked administration to add explicit references to video and violent/criminal images and to clarify consent requirements for photographing or recording people inside district buildings; administration to return a redraft. - Policy 252 (dating violence): subcommittee requested clarifying language tying the district's investigation and disciplinary authority to incidents on district property or connected to authorized district functions, while preserving mandatory-reporting and threat-assessment obligations.
The subcommittee scheduled the next policy meeting for March 13, 2025, and asked administration to circulate revised drafts and supporting materials in advance so members can review them before the next session.
