At the start of the Feb. 5 meeting the commission administered the oath of office to new Housing Advisory Commission members and welcomed consulting support.
Leslie Mendez, planning and building manager, led the oath of office for newly appointed commissioners. After the oath, Mendez asked the new commissioners to sign the oath forms.
The commission then took roll call and approved the minutes of the Oct. 23, 2024 Housing Advisory Commission meeting. The minutes passed by voice/roll call vote.
Later in the meeting the commission held elections for chair and vice chair. Commissioner Aaron Tiedemann nominated himself and was seconded. Rosanna Ramirez was nominated and seconded for vice chair. The commission opened a public comment period on leadership nominations and received multiple public remarks urging different leadership choices.
A roll-call vote approved Aaron Tiedemann as chair (four votes in favor, one abstention). The commission also elected Rosanna Ramirez as vice chair (four votes in favor, one abstention). Commissioners present for the votes included Commissioner Noel Cantu, Commissioner Margie Marks, Commissioner Rosanna Ramirez, Commissioner Aaron Tiedemann and Commissioner Dan Winkler; Commissioner Winkler announced an abstention on both leadership votes.
