Subcommittee delays decision on searches policy to review administrator training and add designee language

Administrators had provided the Stock & Leader guidance to board members earlier the same day. Subcommittee members said they wanted time to read the new materials and asked administration to add a short clarifying edit to the policy: where the draft currently authorizes the administration to conduct searches, the suggested change would explicitly allow searches by a district "designee" (for example, a club advisor or coach) acting under the direction of an administrator at district-sponsored activities when an administrator might not be present.
Board members agreed to table Policy 226 and return it to the subcommittee agenda at the next meeting so members could review the training documentation and the small proposed edit. No formal vote on final language occurred.
The subcommittee also noted that any changes to the policy should be consistent with the training administrators receive and with the district's existing progressive-discipline guidance. The administration committed to place the Stock & Leader materials in members' meeting packets ahead of the next scheduled policy meeting.
