CIP director Dave Lipinski said the town recently completed Ocotillo Road from Sossaman to Hawes and is progressing on Power Road (Channel Heights to Riggs) and several utility and roadway projects related to the LG manufacturing site. Lipinski said roughly 21 projects are in design and several will soon move to construction.
Key items discussed included: - Roadwork and traffic changes: crews are restoring an inside lane on Ellsworth Loop and installing a median island to eliminate certain left‑turn movements; Chrisman Road will be extended from the high‑school roundabout to Cloud Road and include new roundabouts and pedestrian facilities; the town is coordinating with the school district on crossings. - Queen Creek Recreation & Aquatic Center: facility construction is underway, the pool is filled and the grand opening is planned for March; indoor gym and teaching kitchen spaces are under construction. - Public safety complex and training facilities: the public safety building facade is being revised, second‑story work is underway and the K‑9 building and shooting range footings are in place. - Fleet building: the town finalized a two‑story layout for a centralized fleet facility to service heavy‑ and light‑duty vehicles, motorcycles and tires. - ASLD and Ironwood/Pecos work: crews are building the northbound lane on Ironwood and the first half‑mile of Pecos Road, with delivery expected late 2025. - LG Energy Solutions coordination: staff reported active coordination with LG on access and infrastructure as LG continues site construction.
Lipinski said the town paused and refined the fleet design to verify assumptions and that the Aquatic & Rec Center remains on schedule for a spring opening. Council members thanked staff and asked about community tours of large projects; staff said a tour of the LG site will be arranged.
