The Oxnard City Council on Feb. 4 adopted a resolution commending Clark Owens for more than eight years of volunteer service on the city's Senior Services Commission.
The council endorsed a written resolution praising Owens for his involvement in planning new senior centers, advocating for senior transportation and serving as the city's representative to the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging advisory council. Mary Sue Eastlake, senior services supervisor for the city, described Owens as "a gem" who "follows through, he gets things done." Owens accepted the recognition and said he appreciated the volunteers and staff he had worked with.
Vote: The council voted 7-0 to adopt the commendation. The clerk recorded votes by Councilmembers Parralo, Perez, Rodriguez, Star, Mayor Pro Tem Teran, Councilwoman Basuah and Mayor Luis MacArthur. City staff said the resolution and the ceremonial recognition were intended to acknowledge longstanding volunteer service and to highlight senior services work.
