Parks commission approves Lompa Ranch concept plan; homeowners association to fund construction

The Carson City Parks and Recreation Commission on Wednesday unanimously approved a concept plan for a 10‑acre park in Lompa Ranch on the west side of US‑395, with the developer and homeowners association expected to shoulder construction and maintenance costs.

Parks and Recreation Director Jennifer Budge presented the plan, saying the proposal is “the 10 acre park proposal for the West side of the freeway, not the 3 acre park that’s going to go on the East Side.” She told commissioners the developer had briefed the homeowners association and the association recommended approval of the concept design.

The commission’s action clears the concept design and gives developers direction to proceed to later design stages; the commission will review detailed plans before construction. Budge said staff made small edits to the plan’s legend and added a requirement that “landscape and plant material will be 50% pollinator friendly,” consistent with citywide requirements.
