Kenai Peninsula Borough interviews eight candidates to fill District 5 seat vacated by Bill Elam

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly’s Committee of the Whole convened to interview eight applicants to fill the District 5 vacancy left by Bill Elam, Assembly President Rubens said at the start of the session.

The interviews, held in a hybrid meeting with Assembly member Dunn attending via Zoom, followed a randomized order set by the clerk. Each applicant answered a standard set of questions and then took follow‑up questions from assembly members. President Rubens said the assembly would hear three‑minute public statements from the applicants during the regular meeting later the same evening and then vote by secret ballot to select a replacement.
