Council holds first reading to adopt Dallas drainage design manual as Glenn Heights standard

The Glenn Heights City Council received a first reading of Ordinance O-03-25 on Feb. 7 proposing to adopt the City of Dallas Drainage Design Manual (September 2019 edition and subsequent additions) into the city code as the standard for drainage design.
Parviz Porozizian, director of planning and development services, said the change follows an earlier effort to hire a consultant for a drainage study that did not proceed. After discussions with the city attorney and city manager and consultation with engineering colleagues, staff proposed adapting an existing manual from a city with established criteria rather than producing a custom study at this time.
Porozizian said staff made localized adjustments to the document where needed and recommended the manual as a practical resource for design, construction and implementation of drainage facilities in Glenn Heights. Because this was a first reading, no council action was required tonight.
