Roy Garcia of Carpiniks Entertainment updated the City Commission on planning and ticket sales for the Hot Waddle festival scheduled for later this month.
Garcia said sponsors had contributed $41,500 and ticket sales were at $54,000 for both days combined. He said those figures do not include vendor revenue or drink sales, and that presale ticket prices were $20 while gate prices would be $30. Garcia also said ticketing glitches that prevented VIP table selection were being fixed.
Organizers described programming changes for the four-day festival: two family nights, a country night, a conjunto night that will include six high-school bands (including San Benito and Los Fresnos), and a rock-themed Sunday featuring School of Rock student performers and tribute bands. Garcia said sponsors covered the cost of Sunday’s bands so performances on Thursday and Sunday would remain free. He also described a Can-Am trail ride and a planned 50-horse parade that will conclude at the fairgrounds; only six horses would enter the campground venue for a staged performance.
Garcia said children are admitted free all days, adult presales are $20 and gate admission is $30, and that setup would begin the week before the festival with coordination among public-safety departments.
No commission vote was required — this was an informational update.
