Georgia House Recommits HB 92 to Ways and Means, Adopts Daily Order and Privileged Resolutions

ATLANTA — The Georgia House of Representatives on Tuesday recommitted House Bill 92 to the Ways and Means Committee, adopted the day's order of business and a package of privileged resolutions without objection, and recessed until 3 p.m.

The action on House Bill 92 occurred after Chairman Blackman moved, “Move that House Bill 92 be recommitted to the Ways and Means Committee.” The clerk read the bill as "to amend Code section 48-5-44.2 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated relating to base year homestead exemptions." The chair announced there was no objection and ordered the bill recommitted to committee.

The clerk also read and the House adopted a resolution establishing the order of business for the day after the chair asked, "Is there any objection to the adoption of the resolution establishing the order of business for the day?" The chair heard none and the resolution was adopted.

Earlier in the day the House dispensed with and confirmed the journal of the previous legislative day after a committee report finding the journal correct. Later, the clerk read a long list of privileged resolutions — honoring individuals and institutions and recognizing awareness days and anniversaries — and the chamber adopted that package after the chair asked if there was any objection and heard none. Items read as privileged resolutions included honoring firefighters, commending Morehouse School of Medicine on its 50th anniversary, recognizing Alzheimer's Awareness Day and Physician's Day, and multiple other recognitions as read by the clerk.

Following those procedural actions, the majority leader moved that the House "stand in recess until 03:00 p.m., then adjourn until 10 a.m. on Wednesday, 02/05/2025." The motion passed without recorded roll call; the chair announced the ayes had it and the House recessed.

No recorded roll-call votes were taken on the recommitment of HB 92 or on the package of privileged resolutions; the transcript records the chair asking for objections and proceeding when none were voiced.
