The Lamar City Council on Feb. 4 set a public hearing for Feb. 18, 2025, at noon on plans, specifications and cost estimates for the 2025 Industrial Road sanitary sewer extension project and established March 12, 2025, as the date to receive and open sealed bids, with bid awards to be considered at the March 18, 2025 council meeting.
City staff said the project, prepared by Beck Engineering, would extend sanitary sewer mains to serve four lots in Lamar’s Industrial Park (Second and Third editions) that currently lack sewer access; Lot 7 was identified as under current construction and needing sewer as soon as possible. Administration recommended proceeding to the hearing and bid schedule and stated funding would come from the city’s TIF resources. During discussion staff gave an estimated project cost that was described in the meeting as “a hundred and $2,695” (as stated in the transcript); the precise figure was not further clarified on the record.
A councilmember moved to establish the Feb. 18 hearing and the March 12 bid opening; the motion was seconded and the council voted in favor. Staff indicated an anticipated project schedule with a bid opening on March 12 and award on March 18, 2025, and a target completion of Aug. 1, 2025.
