Vice Mayor outlines plan for public engagement on preservation and growth management; report due May 6

Vice Mayor Wu updated the General Government and Planning Committee on Jan. 14 about plans to organize public engagement on Lexington’s Preservation and Growth Management program, which staff and committee leadership will carry out over the coming year.
Wu said the sessions will complement online feedback already being collected through the council’s EngageLexington tool and that staff intend to return progress to the GGP committee at its May 6, 2025 meeting.
“We intend to report back progress on this item at the 05/06/2025 GGP committee meeting,” Vice Mayor Wu told the committee. He asked colleagues to direct questions to him or Chair Sheehan in the interim.
The item was placed in committee following a January 14 work session presentation by long‑range planning staff. No formal action was taken; Wu described the update as organizational and preparatory for a year of community engagement on local land‑use policies and growth strategies.
