Public asks El Paso County commissioners for transparent Pikes Peak Library District trustee appointment process

Powers said prior appointment steps in the state had, in her view, been insufficiently transparent and may have “potentially violated Colorado Sunshine laws.” She asked commissioners to create an “intentional, transparent process where the public can be involved as much as possible” and said the library district’s footprint closely matches that of El Paso County.
The chair and commissioners welcomed the remarks and the board acknowledged the request; Powers said she and her group look forward to a vetting process open to public viewing. No county action on the library board appointment was recorded during the Feb. 4 meeting.
