El Paso County Treasurer Chuck Borme told the Board of County Commissioners on Feb. 4 that his office mailed approximately 290,000 property tax statements last week and estimates the county will collect about $856,000,000 in property tax revenue over the coming months.
Borme said his office has already received substantial early payments. He reported online receipts of about $1 million on each of Friday, Saturday and Sunday the previous week, and that his office processed roughly 1,500 in‑person tax payments in a single busy day, generating about $6,000,000 in receipts.
The treasurer said staff will post property tax statements on the office website next week for taxpayers preparing federal income tax returns, and encouraged residents to use those statements when filing. He invited questions; none were raised during the commissioners’ update period.
The remarks were given during the commissioners’ reports and countywide updates portion of the Feb. 4 meeting.
