Norman Public Schools approves construction bids for four elementary schools and Instructional Services Center

The Norman Public School Board approved construction bid tabulations combining work at Lakeview, Reagan, Washington and Wilson elementary schools along with the district Instructional Services Center.
District staff and Miller Tippens representatives said the district combined the smaller projects to increase bidder coverage and pricing. The projects include ADA restroom upgrades at multiple sites and a new administrative office at Lakeview; the Instructional Services Center also will receive restroom upgrades.
Miller Tippens representatives Michael Phillips and Chris Hoggett told the board they received 26 bids across multiple trade packages and named several low bidders on specific packages, including Midwest Trekking for demolition, LDS Building Specialties for hollow metal doors and frames, Alpha Omega Woodworks on select millwork scopes, WSM MEP (formerly Wagner) for plumbing and HVAC, and Wade Electric for electrical work.
A board member moved to approve the construction bids "as presented for Lakeview Elementary, Reagan Elementary, Washington Elementary, Wilson Elementary, and Instructional Service Center," and the motion carried unanimously: Tina Floyd, Dirk O'Hara, Alex Regiers, Annette Price and Dawn Brockman all voted yes. District staff estimated the work would complete in time for the school year, with key components scheduled for August.
The presentation identified the primary scopes as ADA restroom upgrades, finishes, and a new Lakeview administration area. Miller Tippens noted the Lakeview package included a larger administrative remodel than the other elementary projects.
