Commissioners asked staff to find out the notice period required to terminate the lease and whether the Legion could remain available to host baseball or other users if the county ends the agreement.
“Of course, we do not want to leave the American Legion in the lurch,” a commissioner said, and staff noted the Legion is a veterans organization and may be able to negotiate its own terms or retain alternative users to offset maintenance costs.
After discussion, a motion to approve proceeding with the Morgan Park project and the purchase of goalposts carried on a voice vote. The motion passed; the transcript records a second and an affirmative vote but does not list a roll‑call tally.
