Council sets hearing on new Parking Violations Bureau; Tony Izzo offers to serve as first adjudicator

Saratoga Springs announced a public hearing on an ordinance to create a Parking Violations Bureau as a new Chapter 226 of the city code.
The proposal would move a pretrial administrative proceeding for parking violations out of the court system and into the administrative Parking Violations Bureau. During the meeting, Tony Izzo said the legislation allows the council to appoint one or more adjudicators and offered himself as the first adjudicator, saying, “I’ll be very pleased to act as your first adjudicator.”
City staff suggested the council might make a separate motion and vote to appoint an initial adjudicator after adopting the ordinance. The council scheduled a public hearing on the ordinance for the next meeting; no appointment vote or final adoption was taken at this session.
