Wright County roads and drainage update: bridge removal, abutment work and a tile repair approved

County engineers reported bridge removal and upcoming abutment piling work, routine ditch and brush operations and approved a drainage work order to repair a 24-inch tile in Pleasant Township.
Wright County Engineer Adam Clemens updated the Board of Supervisors on Jan. 27 about secondary roads work and ongoing bridge construction.
Clemens said crews performed brush cutting, spot blading and cold patching last week and completed 96 work orders, roughly 80 of which involved brush cutting by skid steer and hand crews. He said trucks topped off sand-salt supplies at outer sheds and no weather events required emergency response.
On bridge work, Clemens reported that an existing bridge has been fully removed and crews are preparing to drive abutment piling on the east side; work will progress westward. He told the board the contractor will not be charged working days for winter work, providing a scheduling benefit.
Separately, the board met earlier as trustees of the drainage districts and reviewed one work order: BD 30, Section 29, Pleasant Township, to repair tile and provide dirt to fill around a 24-inch tile. The drainage trustees reviewed and approved that work order and approved drainage claims for payment.
The board also approved routine county claims after a correction: a claim originally listed to Des Moines International was pulled for correction and then reissued to the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy for $375, per the auditor's office correction.
