Commissioners approve small SCAP grant, acknowledge Title 3 funds and set public-hearing notices

A staff member (identified as Chris, speaking for Nancy Allen) explained SCAP reimburses counties for costs associated with certain detained noncitizens and that the county regularly uses the program to recover those costs. The board authorized accepting the FY24 SCAP award in the amount of $4,308 and authorized signature for the appropriate official.
The controller reported the county had received $22,990.32 in Title III funds; no expenditures had been made and the report required by the fund administrator was due the following day. The controller asked for and received authorization to sign the Title III report so the county could move forward with obligated but unspent funds, which are intended to support search and rescue activities.
Finally, the board approved two public-hearing notices: one for a zoning ordinance map amendment (rezone) and one for a future land-use map amendment. Staff said one hearing notice had not been included in the packet but expected it to be posted in time for the next publication cycle. The motions on the grant, the Title III report, and the public-hearing notices were made and approved by voice vote.
