Onslow County Public Library staff outlined library programs for February during a county media segment, including a genealogy workshop for African American research, adult social programs for Valentine’s Day, and a short-story email club in Swansboro.
Tori Parks of the Onslow County Public Library described a genealogy presentation by Tanya Foreman titled “Shaking Your Family Tree” scheduled for Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. at the main branch; Parks said no preregistration is required for that session.
Parks also described two Valentine’s Day adult programs that require registration: Galentine’s Day at the Richlands Branch on Feb. 14 at 5:30 p.m. (an adults-only event with mocktails and activities, registration via SignUpGenius) and “It’s a Date” at the Sneads Ferry branch also on Feb. 14 at 5:30 p.m. (couples welcome; registration on SignUpGenius; dinner provided).
Parks described a Short Story Club offered through the Swansboro branch that sends a short story by email each Monday in February to registered patrons; the branch will host a short-story club reception on Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. for participants who received the emailed stories.
Parks directed listeners to the county government website library tab for program listings, branch calendars and newsletters, and noted the libraries are active on Facebook and Instagram. She said printed calendars are available in branches and the March newsletter will be posted March 1.
The segment was informational and provided program dates, registration instructions and contact pathways; no funding or policy decisions were announced.
