Katie Oseguerra, a City of Santa Rosa representative, said the city now offers simultaneous Spanish translation services for city council meetings, available both in person and during virtual broadcasts on the city's YouTube channel and Comcast channel 26.
Oseguerra described the rollout as a collaboration between the city's interpreter team and its information technology staff. "Our dedicated team of interpreters ensures that every word is accurately translated," she said, and she noted that the IT department integrates translations into the broadcast so Spanish-speaking residents can follow meetings live.
The city is directing residents to srcity.org/citycouncil for details about how to access translation services during meetings and for information about attending in person or virtually. Oseguerra said the services are intended to make it easier for Spanish-speaking community members to participate in council proceedings.
No formal action or vote was recorded in the transcript excerpt announcing the service.
