City staff showed commissioners installation images of a new public sculpture by Urban Rock Studios at Bulwer Park and said the artwork is in place even though park construction continues.
"The artwork is installed, and it looks really great," Elise said while presenting photos. Staff clarified the immediate area around the work will not be planted with grass; the piece will be surrounded by pathways, some boulders and decomposed granite (DG). Staff said the park remains behind construction barricades and is not expected to open to the public for several months while surrounding concrete, paths and landscaping are completed.
Commissioners asked why the sculpture was installed ahead of other work. Staff said fabrication and delivery timing dictated the installation window; the piece had been fabricated and stored and the installation had to occur in the available window. Staff said barricades and site protections are in place and that the installation should not impede remaining park construction.
The commission received the informational update; no formal action was required.
