Indio panel approves Casa del Cabo bed-and-breakfast after debate over scale, connectivity and landscaping

The Indio Planning Commission on Jan. 22 conditionally approved the Casa del Cabo planning review (Case PRD240012), a proposed 32,000-square-foot bed-and-breakfast on a roughly 3.3-acre parcel near the southwest corner of John Nobles Avenue and Arabia Street, after extended discussion about scale, neighborhood compatibility, landscaping and driveway access.
Assistant planner Nico (Nicholas Withron) presented the staff report and said staff found the project consistent with the City of Indio General Plan 2040 and the Unified Development Code, and that the project is categorically exempt under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Staff recommended adoption of Resolution No. 2101 with conditions of approval. Nico noted the proposal includes an owner’s residence on-site, eight guest suites, ancillary amenities (pools, fitness/yoga space and dining court), about 24.6% landscaped area and standard conditions addressing landscaping and fire safety.
