During the public-comment period of a Granbury City Council meeting, public commenters and an Atmos Energy representative praised the company's weekend response to a gas leak at the Abe's Landing subdivision, saying crews restored service and worked with city staff to get residents back into their homes.
Speakers credited preexisting relationships between the city and Atmos Energy for the rapid response. A public commenter said the company deployed "at least 50 Atmos trucks" to Abe's Landing and that the city council received a report that "at least 90 technicians" were at the site working to repair the leak and restore gas service before a winter storm arrived.
Lisa Nies, an Atmos Energy representative, said the company brought a mobile command center and coordinated with city staff and local partners. "We couldn't do it without y'all's help," Nies said, adding that crews and plumbers were "ready to rock" as early as 7 a.m. Saturday. She thanked city staff and community partners for allowing the company to use a Granbury ISD parking lot as part of its response.
No formal action or vote on the incident was taken during the meeting; the remarks appeared as public comment praising the response and thanking staff and Atmos Energy for their coordination.
The discussion was limited to expressions of thanks and operational details about the response; speakers did not propose or request specific policy changes during the public-comment period.
