After those votes, the board approved a motion to go into executive session "pursuant to ARS 38‑431.03(A)(1) for discussion and consideration of the superintendent's evaluation." President Robert Downey announced the executive session would proceed; the board noted the superintendent could request the evaluation discussion be held in open session.
