Roger Coulter, president of the Kiwanis Club of Glendale, presented a December student-of-the-month award to Hemina (Hamina/Amina in transcript) Montoya Ruiz, a second-grader and student ambassador at Sunset Vista School, and announced Don Messendick School as the Kiwanis "Inspiring Change" School of the Month. Coulter described the award and cited the school's service-learning projects and buddy systems used to support younger students. Coulter also presented a $50 Walmart gift card to the student-of-the-month.
