Board approves property sale, administrative hire, labor agreement and Kettering fire alarm bid

The Waterford School District Board of Education voted unanimously on four new-business items at its December meeting, approving a property sale, an administrative hire, a tentative labor agreement and a fire alarm contract for Waterford Kettering High School.
The board approved a purchase agreement to sell district-owned vacant property on Hermana Road to PH Homes Inc. for $675,000 and authorized the interim superintendent to sign the agreement. Secretary Torres brought the recommendation to the board; the motion carried 7-0.
The board approved the appointment of Karen Hildebrandt as assistant superintendent of business and operations under a 100% administrative contract effective Jan. 20, 2025. The motion was moved and supported and carried 7-0.
Board members approved the tentative agreement between the district and the Waterford Association of School Administrators (WASA), which district officials said was ratified by WASA membership Dec. 19, 2024. The motion to approve the tentative agreement carried 7-0.
Finally, trustees awarded the bid to replace the fire alarm system at Waterford Kettering High School to Gemini Electric Co. Inc. for $687,117. Treasurer Donahue identified bond funds as the source for the project; the award passed 7-0.
The board chair called each item for a voice/hand vote; votes were recorded as unanimous where noted. Several board members spoke briefly in support of the items before each vote, and speakers identified budget sources or timeline considerations during the discussion.
Copies of the purchase agreement, the administrative contract, the tentative WASA agreement and the Gemini Electric bid tabulation are part of the meeting packet and will be retained with the board records.
Actions recorded at the meeting will move to the district's usual implementation steps: contract execution for the property sale and the Gemini Electric contract, and standard onboarding procedures for the administrative appointment. The WASA tentative agreement will be implemented as outlined in the ratified documents.
Board members did not name individual yes/no votes in the public roll calls; the meeting minutes show each motion adopted by a 7-0 tally.
