Pottsgrove School Board elects McIntyre president, Strunk vice president and fills liaison posts

The Pottsgrove School District Board of School Directors held its annual reorganization segment of the December meeting and elected Tina McIntyre as board president and Jay Strunk as vice president by acclamation.

The reorganization meeting — the statutory annual meeting required in early December — also confirmed committee and liaison assignments for the year. Jay Strunk was reappointed to the Western Montgomery Career & Technology Center Joint Operating Committee for a three‑year term, Dr. Chuck Nipper was confirmed as the board’s Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU) legislative liaison, and Patty Grimm was named the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA) liaison.

The board opened the reorganization portion with an explanation of the legal requirement. “Pursuant to the Pennsylvania Public School Code, every school board is required to meet during the 1st week of December to affect a permanent organization, electing both a president and a vice president, each for a term of 1 year,” a district staff member explained during the meeting.

Board Secretary Miss Cusser presided over nominations for the temporary president and then managed the voice votes by acclamation that resulted in the appointments. All nominations and appointments were approved by voice vote with no recorded roll‑call tallies.

Board members were reminded that, because this was a non‑election year, only leadership and liaison positions required election or reappointment; treasurer and secretary elections typically occur in May. The board also asked members to submit committee preferences by email so administrative staff can finalize committee assignments.

The reorganization segment concluded with brief remarks from President McIntyre thanking colleagues for their trust. “It’s a privilege to serve alongside you,” she said.
