The Derry Area School District Board of School Directors accepted several personnel resignations and approved staff travel and volunteer coach appointments during its Jan. 27, 2025 meeting.
The board accepted the resignation of Pamela Miller, middle school custodian, effective Jan. 10, 2025, and the resignation of Joshua Wanamaker, systems administrator, effective Feb. 7, 2025, "for the purpose of other employment," according to the agenda item read at the meeting.
The board approved a slate of routine personnel items listed as A through F on the published agenda and approved two staff conference attendances: employee 428499 to attend the Westmoreland ELA Summit on Feb. 10, 2025, at an approximate cost of $293.60 charged to district funds; and employee 499 to attend the "Recharge and Ignite: Preparing for the Future in the ELA Classroom" conference at Slippery Rock University on March 19, 2025, at an approximate cost of $222.34 to be paid with district funds.
In athletics business, the board accepted the resignation of Mark Reyes, varsity baseball assistant coach, effective at the end of the 2023–24 school year, and approved Mark Gray as a volunteer baseball coach for the 2024–25 school year, pending receipt of necessary clearances and documentation.
Most personnel and business motions were approved by voice vote with no roll-call tallies recorded in the public transcript. The board noted a quorum of eight members was present when votes were taken.
Separately, the board approved business affairs items listed as A through F on the published agenda.
No amendments to personnel contracts or additional conditions were recorded during the meeting.
