New council members sworn in; Steve Crowder elected mayor, Woody Colleton chosen vice mayor

At its Dec. 10 meeting the Paradise Town Council administered oaths to three newly elected council members and elected Steve Crowder as mayor and Woody Colleton (vice mayor) by roll call. The Paradise Town Council on Dec. 10 presented certificates of election and administered oaths of office to newly elected council members Greg Bolin, Steve Culliton and Heidi Lang, then held its annual selection of mayor and vice mayor.
After the oaths, council nominations produced a roll-call vote to elect Council member Steve Crowder as mayor for a one-year term. Crowder received the majority of votes cast by the seated council and assumed the chair. The council then voted to elect Woody Colleton as vice mayor by roll call.
The council also honored outgoing Council member Rose Tryon with a proclamation recognizing her service beginning Dec. 8, 2020, through Dec. 10, 2024, and noting her roles on local boards including the Butte County Air Quality Management District and the Butte County Fire Safe Council. Representatives from Assemblyman James Gallagher and Senator Brian Dahle presented a certificate of recognition. Town staff and visiting state legislative staffers offered additional comments of thanks.
