Pacific View to expand hours, opens registration for 2025 classes and camps

City staff reported Dec. 2 that Pacific View Arts Center will extend public hours starting Jan. 2, 2025, with the center open five days a week (closed Mondays and Fridays) and Thursday hours extended to 8 p.m. beginning March 27, 2025. The cultural arts division said registration opened for winter and spring classes and that summer camp registration will open March 3.

Why it matters: The schedule and program rollout affect residents seeking arts classes, youth programming and ticketed performances at Pacific View.

Julie Gilliam, Senior Management Analyst in the cultural arts division, told the commission the center’s new hours will take effect Jan. 2 and that registration “open today for classes, workshops and camps” covering adult, youth, teen and pre-K offerings. Gilliam said staff added numerous programs across genres including music, acting, dance, improv, film, sewing and embroidery, and that the spring season’s exhibitions will be posted on the city website in the coming weeks.

Gilliam also noted limited Nutcracker tickets remain for performances on Dec. 14 at San Diego Academy and said staff is working on the fiscal year 2025–26 budget.
