The Red Clay Consolidated School District Board of Education on Dec. 18 approved three donations totaling $3,250 to support district families during the holiday season.
The board approved a $500 donation from Guy Campbell to the Office of Federal Programs to provide meals to Red Clay families. The motion to approve was moved by Cathy Thompson and seconded by Mr. Wilson; the board approved the recommendation.
The board then approved a $2,000 donation from Teresa and Mark Forbes to Joseph E. Johnson Elementary School to help provide winter resources for families in need. The motion was moved by Dr. Nesmith and seconded by Miss English. The board conducted a voice call vote and the motion carried unanimously.
A third donation of $750 from Goodchild Towing LLC to the Office of Federal Programs for Thanksgiving meals was also approved after a motion from Mr. Wilson with a second from Cathy Thompson.
Board comments included public thanks to the donors during the meeting. The donations were processed as action items during the meeting and recorded as approved.
