Board approves Odysseyware subscription, Adelante Mujeres after-school program and special-education placement

The Forest Grove School District board approved multiple contract items during its meeting, voting by voice on the consent agenda and three specific action items.

The board approved a subscription for Odysseyware software to be used at Forest Grove High School, Twilight Plains High School, Beyond Shrunt Bridal School and Oak Grove Academy. Assistant Superintendent Arturo Bummeli said the platform supports credit recovery and occasional original-credit work and that the district uses teacher-developed proficiency standards in conjunction with the software. The item was brought to the board because the single-purchase price exceeded $50,000.

Directors approved a continuation of the district's partnership with Adelante Mujeres to operate the Chicas Youth Development after-school program at six Title I elementary schools, Neil Armstrong Middle School and Forest Grove High School. The contract was described in the meeting as enabling programming for roughly 20 to 25 students per school and includes weekly programming, community service and enrichment; the board approved approximately $70,000 to continue the partnership for the school year.

The board also approved contracted special-school placement services for a single student at the Serendipity Center (continuation of a previously approved placement). Student Services Director Tim Shearer said the placement was required because the local ESD's available special-school placements were not appropriate for the individual student's needs; the contract was approved for the 2025-26 school year for an amount not to exceed $117,747.60.

All items were approved by voice vote. The meeting record did not list a roll-call tally or named votes; the chair declared the motions approved after members responded "aye" by voice.
