The Clark County School Board voted to sponsor a $600 board table at the Clark Equity Coalition gala to support the coalition’s programs, including interpreting services, mentoring and technology assistance for students.
Board member Miss Hall described the coalition’s work — including an interpreter program, mentoring for Black and Brown students and assistance in obtaining computers — and said the gala is a fundraiser to support those activities. “They do a lot of mentoring with the bracket black and brown population. They can help get them computers,” Miss Hall said.
Miss Hall said she planned to attend and that the board could invite staff or partners to sit at the board table. The board approved the expenditure by motion from Mr. Kaiser, seconded by Miss Thomas. The motion carried 5 to 0.
Board members said the sponsorship represented a community partnership and a modest contribution to local equity-focused services.
