Clovis senior center parking-lot and patio project delayed after state capital outlay allocations

Miss Reagan, speaking for the senior services department, told the committee that a capital outlay request for the east-side parking lot and a covered patio was delayed after limited legislative funding.
"I applied for capital funding...part of that application was for the second half of the parking lot and the covered patio," Miss Reagan said. She said the statewide capital outlay request totalled about $37 million but legislators approved $10 million, and Clovis's project was pushed back.
Reagan said the Aging and Long-Term Services Department assured staff the Clovis project would be resubmitted in the next legislative session in February or March. "There is a chance that we'll still receive that funding next year, but as of right now, it is going to be delayed," she said.
Reagan said the department prioritized senior centers with urgent infrastructure problems, including those without electricity or running water. The committee did not vote on the project during the meeting; the update was informational.
Committee members thanked staff for pursuing capital funding and said they would continue to request support in future sessions.
