Caswell County Schools board approves one-day corrective reading training for staff Jan. 22

Staff said they had budgeted $10,000 in the RLIS account and had not spent that allocation; the proposal indicated RLIS funds can cover expenses otherwise paid from Title I, Title II, or Title IV revenue. As of the morning of the meeting staff reported 25 registered participants plus six participants from Dillard School.
The board approved the contract. The motion was seconded by Mister Lillard; the mover was not specified on the record. The vote was taken by hand raise and the motion carried.
Board members clarified that South Elementary had not been using corrective reading this year because of staff turnover and that the district intended to include South staff in the training. The presenter said North Elementary, Oakwood Elementary and Stoney Creek had staff or tutors already using corrective reading techniques.
