Seaside swears in mayor and council members; Oglesby to serve 2-year term

Several elected officials and community leaders attended, and members of the public praised the council and congratulated the newly sworn officials during public comment earlier in the meeting.
Council members offered brief remarks after taking their oaths. Alexis Garcia Arizola spoke about his background, youth engagement and priorities for housing, education and public safety. David R. Pacheco thanked his campaign team and emphasized family and community, and Mayor Oglesby outlined priorities including affordable housing on former Fort Ord property, small-business support and public-safety resources.
The formal reconstitution of the council and the city's successor agency was recorded by roll call following the oath ceremony and the meeting adjourned to a reception.
