Oakley Collier (architects) participated in the design review; district staff said the final equipment list will be determined as the district confirms North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (DPI) requirements for career-technical education (CTE) culinary programs.
School staff said the layout is intended to support the full culinary arts curriculum, including pastry instruction. The district team reported the goal is to have the space ready for the next academic year, contingent on final equipment procurement and construction timelines.
Dr. Christine Fitch moved to approve the conceptual design; Mr. Breen seconded the motion. The board voted to approve the conceptual design unanimously.
