"I'm ecstatic to say that ... the Supreme Court of Georgia ... ruled in our favor," Mayor Owens told the council and public, saying the court found Mableton’s creation "legal and lawful" and adding, "the city of Mableton is here to stay."
Mayor Owens and several council members framed the ruling as allowing the city to move forward without the legal uncertainty that had persisted during the litigation. Councilmembers at the meeting said the decision clears the way to focus on municipal operations and policy work.
Ending: The mayor said the ruling should let the council and staff focus on city business and move forward "as 1 city, completely united" on serving residents.
