Resident urges county to arrange medical screenings for children he says have been abused; committee does not take action

During the public comment period, a resident identified as Ben Zee told the Health and Hospital Committee he has sought county help to obtain medical screenings for his children, which he described as victims of sexual abuse. He asked county staff and county‑funded clinicians to arrange screenings and named individuals he said had been involved or had his contact information.

"I've been trying to get a screening for my children, but the county is refusing to do so in spite of all the serious things that have been happening with my kids," Ben Zee said. He described behavioral changes in his children and asked the county to tell him what he needs to do to obtain screenings. He referenced having reported the matter to child protective services and identified Otto Lee as holding his contact information.

Committee members did not undertake a formal action on the public comment during the meeting. County staff and presenters who later spoke on related items (STI/HIV and harm reduction) acknowledged public comments but did not announce a direct follow‑up on the specific request during the committee session. The committee closed the public comment queue and proceeded with the agenda.
