Monterey County supervisors reappoint delegates to rural county and broadband authorities

The Monterey County Board of Supervisors voted 4-0 Dec. 4 to appoint delegates and alternates to the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) and to representatives for the Golden State Connect Authority/Golden State Broadband Authority.

The unanimous vote followed a short public and board discussion in which supervisors expressed appreciation for the incumbent’s work representing Monterey County at the statewide bodies.

Assistant remarks during the meeting noted the time and staff commitment required of board members who serve on statewide boards. Supervisor Church, the board’s representative, said serving had been “an honor and a privilege,” and that he appreciated the board’s support in continuing the role. No member opposed the motion and the chair called the motion carried 4-0.

The action will keep the county’s current representatives in place for the coming term; the board did not specify additional changes to the appointment process for those particular seats.

Board-level appointments to outside entities are regular agenda items intended to preserve continuity of representation on intergovernmental and advisory bodies; they are not tied to county budget allocations or contracts. The county’s roster of current non‑county assignments will be updated to reflect the vote.

The board moved on to other agenda items after completing the appointments.
