A county staff member said the sheriff’s office could perform much of the upfitting in-house, estimating labor at about $1,500 per vehicle; staff also said outsourcing the upfitting would be substantially more. Commissioners noted there was no local dealer among the bidders and that the successful bid source is based in Chesterfield.
Commissioners approved the motion by voice vote. The motion was recorded as passing with the commission indicating assent by saying “aye.”
The commission also discussed the timing of placing vehicles on local dealers’ lots to improve local availability in future procurements.
