What district leaders presented: District leaders said the academy model creates theme‑based small learning communities to increase student engagement, give students earlier career awareness, expand dual‑enrollment and AP/IB opportunities and improve college and career readiness. Block scheduling (4 longer classes per day, alternating odd/even days) was presented as the scheduling vehicle that allows students to take more courses per year (eight versus six), which in turn increases opportunities for advanced coursework, electives and work‑based learning.
