The Township of Ocean Board of Education was notified Jan. 28 that the district’s annual audit for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024, will be presented by the auditor from Wilcox and Company at an upcoming meeting in early February.
Mr. Hastings, staff member, told the work session that the district must formally accept the audit once it is presented. “He will be attending our meeting, in the beginning of February. The board is required to accept the audit and any findings, that he may have for us, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024,” Hastings said. He added, “There are no findings, in that report.”
Nut graf: Audits are standard annual reviews required for school districts and acceptance of the audit report is a formal action the board will take at a public meeting. The Jan. 28 work session served to place the auditor’s presentation on the agenda and to notify board members of the auditor’s attendance.
The work session record does not contain a formal acceptance of the audit; the acceptance will be on a future public meeting agenda for board action. The auditor’s report, according to staff, contained no findings to act on. No financial statements, corrective action plans, or detailed audit exhibits were presented during the work session.
The district did not provide a copy of the audit in the Jan. 28 transcript, and no vote was taken at the work session. The board will have the opportunity to review the auditor’s report and take formal action during regular public session when Wilcox and Company presents.
