City Council recognizes Claude Bean for 51 years of business in the 9th Ward

Bean told the council he has operated the auto and body shop for more than five decades and said his two sons are the next generation to run the business. "It's an honor, that the city councilman recognized, my business, here today," Bean said.
The proclamation was signed by all seven members of the New Orleans City Council and was presented at the meeting; council members urged support for generational, family-owned businesses in the city. No vote or ordinance was associated with the proclamation.
The council highlighted Claude Bean's longevity in the Lower 9th Ward and referenced nearby community institutions including Carver High School and Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO).
