Cumberland County approves NCDOT settlement, new waste truck and transfer-station design work

The Cumberland County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Dec. 10 to accept a settlement with the North Carolina Department of Transportation over condemnation of right-of-way affecting the Camden Road convenience center and to authorize several solid-waste purchases and a transfer-station design contract.
The settlement, explained by Amanda Lee, Cumberland County environmental director, includes a payment of $375,000 and transfer of a 24-acre tract owned by NCDOT at the intersection of Parkton and Brisbane roads.
